this is the last stop, all npc subway partners must exit

[One of the many, many rooms housed in the research facility opens up to a subway platform! It's just your average station... though maybe a bit better-kept: a vending machine stands in one corner, potted plants keep the atmosphere calm, and the floor is well-swept. Pretty standard fare for anyone used to Unova's Subway system.

Except there are no trains coming. The tunnel on either side of the of the platform stretches on into darkness; sure, you could enter it, but all the signs for safety say that is a Very Bad Idea. You wouldn't want to cross the yellow line, would you?

Hopefully not, because sooner or later a single subway train will rumble down the tunnel. When it lets its passengers off, there's only two riders-- a very calm Hilbert and a very jumpy Nate. Nate hops across the gap between the platform and train and runs into the station, chattering all the way. Hilbert follows behind in a leisurely manner as the train runs off into the darkness again.]

And you really gave that Clerk guy's Braviary a good one-two! It was great! And! And! Hilbert, didja see when Arcanine got that guy's Gallade? Wasn't it a real smart move there?

Mm, yeah. Pretty cool stuff and all.

I know! And-- Saaay, what's this?

[Nate has now found the door into the hallway. He pauses like a startled deer~~ling~~, eyes as round as dinner plates, then begins hopping up and down on each foot in excitement.]

Hilbert! Hilbert! Look! We got off on a new stop! Ingo an' Emmet ain't said nothing about this! C'mon! Let's go check it out!

Careful, there. [Hilbert is entirely unruffled by this development, tuckng his hands in his pockets and tilting his head to one side.] Don't go running into anyone.

[Nate may or may not listen to Hilbert's words of wisdom; good luck to you in that endeavor. Feel free to start to talk to either of them; they will both eventually show up in the thread.]

Mr. Emmet!! [Nate screeches to a halt immediately and bounds over to him.] Mr. Emmet, you never told me there was a secret stop on the subway! This place is cool!

[Hilbert pulls a hand out of his pocket to wave, his smile a little shyer than Nate's but still there.]

Hey, Emmet.

I didn't know this was here! This isn't Unova, after all!

It isn't, huh... [Hilbert glances around with renewed interest, eyebrows raised.]

But... the train didn't go off the rails or anything... and you're here and the platform's here... [...does not compute...??]

It is very strange! Very interesting! But it is okay. This is an interesting facility. It has done no harm yet.

If you say so. [Hilbert smiles again, his vague worries eased.] Guess it's a place to explore, then.

Yeah, that's what I was gonna do in the first place! Betcha I can find everything real fast! [LET HIM AT IT, LET HIM DO IT!! HE'LL MOW THE PLACE DOWN IN SECONDS

Though a train is fast, it will stop and patiently wait at the station for passengers to board and disembark! It is important to slow down and look, Nate.

[Nnnmmmrgh...] Yeah, you're right....

But I wasn't gonna leave Hilbert behind, anyway! [He plants himself stubbornly beside his much less hyperactive senpai, crossing his arms and tilting his head to look up at Emmet.]

[Hilbert lets out an awkward half-laugh... he certainly seems to have become Nate's keeper.

Anyway--] Have you been here long, then, Emmet?

I have only been at this station for a few days! Around a week now, I suppose! Ingo and I have been searching for an exit of some sort, or a line that leads home!

Maybe the one we just got off, then?... [He turns back to glance at the platform.]

It probably isn't that easy, but we could wait for the train and see anyway!

[Nate wouldn't really mind if it took them somewhere new... ADVENTUREEEE!!!]

Hmm... I think I will stay here! I can drive the train if necessary.

Oh! When you do that, can I watch you? Please?

[nate has so much energy all the time... Hilbert says nothing and adjusts his hat, smiling wanly. Kouhai says so many words that he doesn't really need to talk much.]

Hmmm... maybe! Safety first! I will test-run. I do not want to endanger passengers. That would be veeeery bad.

[Skyla had been searching around the facility hoping to find some kind of hangar. If she could just find a plane! Even if she can't escape, at least it'll make her feel a little more comfortable seeing one of her favorite things. Oops, what's this door take her to? Just as it opens, something smashes face first into her chest.]

H-Huh?! Hey! What do you think you're- OH! [She pulls him back by his shoulders.] No way! It is you! [A smile lights her face.] Nate! Hee hee, so you're here too! [She looks up and sees the other boy.] And Hilbert! Great timing, you two! Have any of you seen an airplane around here?!

Eh--...?! [That was one of the, er... softer landings he's had. ABORT MISSION ABORT ABORT

Fortunately (?) he's about as dense and tactful as a sack of hammers with these kind of situations, so when Skyla recognizes him and seems unaffected he moves on just as quickly too.] O-Oh! Miss Skyla! Hi!

[Hilbert is suffering from a little bit of secondhand embarrassment but he'll do his best to brush it off, too. Sigh.]

No, sorry. We just got here. [He pauses a moment, then wrinkles his nose a little.] If you're looking for a train, though, y'just missed it. [...] Are there planes kept underground here or something?

[She places her hands on her hips and tilts her chin up in confidence.]

In a place like this, why wouldn't you have a top secret underground hangar?! It'd be a terrible waste with so much technology and no way to fly! Nothing against trains but, it's just not the same when you're free as a bird in the air!

Oh! That makes sense! [WOW SO COOL.] I'll help you look!

[Hilbert doesn't quite get why it makes sense but he'll roll with it. Okay.]

If it's "top secret," does that mean the planes are especially... high-tech or something?

[Well... guess who was passing by that door! Though, he's a bit confused at the choice of words. He's never heard someone call it something like that, at least.]

... New stop?

Mm. We just got off the train. [ Hilbert nods.] So if... this worked the normal way, it'd be a stop.

[Nate has gone strangely quiet, staring at Red in awe like he recognizes him. Red.... I'm so sorry.]

Oh.

[... Makes sense.]

This place isn't normal. [Far from it really... !] You're stuck.

Stuck? [Nate is distracted by this prospect.] Stuck underground here? Never to see the light of day?!

[That's a little dramatic, Nate... but...] Wonder where the train goes, then.

[So not underground. Or maybe it is? Either way, he shrugs at the second part. He has no idea where that goes, either.]

Maybe it just brings people in?

[That sounds like it's about right, anyway.]

[Nate shrugs a little to dismiss the issue, then leans closer to Red with his interest piqued again. HE CAN'T QUITE PLACE HIM.............]

Hilbert. [He nods a "nice to meet you" gesture.]

I'm Nate! [Nate eyes Red studiously, then squishes up to Hilbert in excitment.]

[He has no idea who that even is, but she must be pretty boss.]

[Part of being a good Magma Grunt is scouting the area! ... or, in Dimitri's case, wandering around aimlessly. He can be found standing at the edge of the platform, shading his eyes with a hand as he stares down yawning mouth of the subway tunnel.]

Aah, it is very big... where does it go, I wonder? [Somehow, even more than the surreal biomes, this room strikes a chord as to how enormous the research facility is.]

Back to Gear Station!

[Nate how did you get back so fast?! Ubiquitous NPC trainer powers.]

Or at least, that's where it did go....

You mean- this room is familiar to you? Aah, how strange... is it a copy, maybe? [AIs sure are whimsical in their room choices. How could a subway station be part of a testing environment?]

Yup! I come here a lot! [...] Well, um. To the one that isn't a copy.

[Ahah.]

Whoever did this sure did their research, though! I mean, I bet the Subway Bosses couldn't even find a difference in this from the 'riginal. That's kinda crazy!

[Silver is, as always, looking for an exit. He is, unfortunately, right in Nate's way just outside the door to the hallway. The collision is simply unavoidable.]

Watch where you're going, moron! [This landing is not as soft as the one Nate had earlier with Skyla.]
